On 23th March 20 was organized the first workshop “Strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation and Strategic Communication mechanisms with the aim of Prevention/Countering Violent Extremism” with employees from Ministry of Justice, General Directorate of Prisons, Probation Service and the Center for the Prevention of Juvenile and Youth Crimes. The purpose of the training was to contribute in increasing cooperation and strengthening the capacities of the institutions that are involved in the implementation of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism, as well as in improving the process and practices related to the developing and communication of strategic messages to counter and prevent violent extremism. The workshop sessions aimed for the participants to gain improved knowledge related to the understanding of strategic communication to deal with violent extremism as well as to be skilled in the consolidation of communications and practices in the framework of P/CVE based on an effective inter-institutional interaction.
Ministry of Interior and Albanian State Police are among the main institutions involved in the implementation of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism. In this context, in coordination with the CVE Center, CSDG organized the 2nd workshop “Strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation and mechanisms of Strategic Communication in the function of Prevention/Countering Violent Extremism” with participants representing the abovementioned institutions.
In the first phase of the training session it was intended to achieve an improvement of practices in terms of consolidating communications in the framework of the P/CVE, also strengthening inter-institutional interaction and coordination. The trainings are designed to enable the participants with comprehensive knowledge on communication as a main instrument for dealing with violent extremism (VE), adapting them in accordance with the tasks and specifics of each of the institutions involved in the process.
Through the interactive sessions, which are part of the workshop modules, it is also intended to identify the specific needs and problems which need to be addressed in the future.
On 25/28 march 2022 Center for the Study of Democracy and Governance organized workshops on “Strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation and Strategic Communication mechanisms with the aim of Prevention/Countering Violent Extremism” with employees from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Regional Directorates of State Social Service and Local Health Care Units. These activities conclude the first phase of the trainings carried out within the project “Support the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism to delivering strategic communications on P/CVE through capacity building and research”, was financially supported by the US Embassy in Albania and implemented in cooperation with the CVE Center. The main objective of the workshops was to improve the knowledge and expertise of the responsible employees from the Line Ministries as well as their dependent institutions, in terms of using strategic communication in the prevention and countering of violent extremism. The organization of the workshops in two phases aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the activities developed in order to address the identified deficiencies and weaknesses.
